Henan will cut coal consumption by 38 million tons in 2020 compared with 2015

According to Henan Daily, Henan Provincial People's Government issued Henan Province Coal Consumption Reduction Action Plan (2018-2020) (hereinafter referred to as the “Action Plan”) on December 22, striving to reduce the total coal consumption in the province by about 15% or 38 million tons in 2020 compared with that of 2015.
 
The comprehensive energy consumption of high-energy-consuming industries such as steel, chemical and non-ferrous metals in Henan Province has shown an obvious upward trend since the beginning of this year. The demand for electricity continues to increase. And the input of coal for power generation has increased significantly year on year. In some places, industrial coal consumption above designated size did not decline but has risen. The Action Plan states that the strict control of new coal-consuming projects is underway. On the one hand, Henan Province raises the entry threshold for coal-consuming projects. On the other hand, Henan Province strictly implements the substitution of reducing coal consumption.
 
At the same time, in order to meet the needs of industrial production and accelerate the development of non-fossil energy, Henan Province will accelerate the construction of "Qinghai power into Henan" channel, and strive to complete it and put it into use by the end of September 2020.
