North China's 4 key ports H1 coal shipment up 3.68% on yr

The four key ports in the Bohao bay –Qinhuangdao, Caofeidian, Jingtang and Tianjin – delivered a total 352 million tonnes of coal in the first half of the year, a 3.68% increase compared with the same period last year.

Jingtang port shipped 59.1 million tonnes of coal in January-June 2018, growing 18.44% from a year ago, accounting for 16.7% of total coal shipment at the four key Bohai Sea ports during the period.

Coal shipment by Jingtang port, composed of SDIC Jingtang, the old Jingtang and 36-40# berths, posts a robust increase in the first half, with increment representing 73.3% of the four ports' total growth.
 
SDIC Jingtang has a long-term cooperation with state-owned Datong Coal Mine Group and China National Coal Group,  which also hold shares of the port.The two miners' coal products can be easily transported to ports via Daqin railway. This attracted a number of buyers, driving up shipment at Jiangtang port.Meanwhile, SDIC Jingtang also offers special storage yards to China Coal and Inner Mongolia Yitai Group, and other preferential measures to Inner Mongolia Mengtai Group and Man Shi Group among other clients. Similar measures to Datong Coal and Shanxi Coking Coal Group are also adopted at the old Jingtang and 36-40# berths.
 
Qinhuangdao port's coal throughput totaled 107 million tonnes in the first half, almost unchanged from a year ago; followed was Huanghua at 99 million tonnes, up 3.4 million tonnes on the year. Caofeidian's coal shipment increased 10.8 million tonnes.
 
Tianjin port, constrained by truck transport restriction and lack of railway facility, saw a decrease of 11.2 million tonnes in coal shipment during the period from a year ago.
 
Market insiders expected coal shipment to increase 40 million tonnes at the four ports this year.
