Qinhuangdao Port, the largest coal transshipment port in China, has not restricted daily coal shipment anymore and recovers its original operations since 21st. September, confirmed by an insider from that harbour.
Previously, the local government hoped that the volume of coal outbound in Qinhuangdao port can't exceed 180 million tons this year due to environmental protection, and has reached 150 million tons at present. Thus, Qinhuangdao Port began to limit the amount of coal outbound, not exceeding 400,000 tons per day to finish the final goal.
The coastal coal transportation market was influenced by the sudden policy, and resulted in a series of continuous changes and serious traffic jam. Ships in Qinhuangdao Port had to wait at least 20 days, and can be loaded at least 3 days after berthing. Some downstream users had to change their previous route and go to other ports in the Bohai Rim. According to CCTD data, more than 100 ships have queued at the port, about 265 vessels were stranded in the five northern major coal ports, including Tianjin Port, Caofeidian Port, Jingtang Port, Huanghua Port and Qinhuangdao Port.
