On July 16, 2025, China once again set a new national record for peak power load, surpassing 1.5 billion kilowatts for the first time.

This comes after previous records were broken earlier in the month:
1.465 billion kW on July 4
1.467 billion kW on July 7.

The latest peak represents an increase of 55 million kW compared to last year's highest load. Nationwide electricity demand has remained at elevated levels this week, marking a critical phase for ensuring stable energy supply during the summer peak season.

Throughout this period, most regions in China have experienced higher-than-average temperatures, combined with continued economic growth momentum. These factors have jointly driven the country’s peak power load to an all-time high.

As of noon on July 16, power load levels across 16 provincial-level grids—including Tianjin, Northern Hebei, Southern Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Hubei, Henan, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Eastern Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Guangdong—have collectively broken historical records 36 times since the start of summer.

At present, China’s overall power supply remains stable.
