On June 26, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) held its monthly press conference. Li Chao, Deputy Director of the NDRC's Policy Research Office, stated that summer marks the annual peak in electricity demand, and ensuring energy supply hinges critically on electricity.

It is estimated that during this year's summer peak, China’s maximum electricity load will increase by approximately 100 million kilowatts year-on-year. In response, the NDRC, in coordination with relevant authorities, has taken a series of measures to enhance power supply capacity and has made early efforts to improve the energy production, supply, storage, and sales system.
These measures include:
——Developing province-specific energy supply assurance plans;
——Organizing local governments and major energy companies to strengthen coordination;
——Maintaining coal inventories at a high level in centrally dispatched power plants.
These efforts have laid a solid foundation for ensuring reliable electricity supply during the peak summer period. Overall, the power supply and demand situation for summer 2025 is expected to be better than that of last year, and a nationwide balance in power supply and demand is generally assured.
