At the production areas, prices in the Yulin region remained stable. Although prices had increased consecutively in recent days, the upward momentum was not particularly strong. With expectations of increased supply at the beginning of the month, coal producers have become more cautious about raising prices.
In the Ordos region, most coal mines maintained stable sales. A few mines that had raised prices saw a slight decline in truck dispatches. However, as the end of the month typically sees tighter supply, mine-mouth prices mostly remained stable.
In the northern Shanxi region, prices also held steady. Driven by the continuous price rise at the ports, coal producers showed stronger price-holding sentiment. Still, due to limited demand recovery, mine prices mainly followed with mild increases.
At the ports, while users showed limited acceptance of high prices, their inquiry activity picked up. Meanwhile, several favorable factors supported a moderately firm trend in seller quotations: fluctuating yet declining coal inventories at major ports such as Qinhuangdao, rising ocean freight rates, and a halt in the decline of imported coal prices.
On the import side, the price advantage of low-calorific-value imported coal has recently become more apparent, boosting purchasing interest among end-users. Market activity for thermal coal in the Asia-Pacific region saw a slight rebound. At the same time, Indonesian supply remained generally stable, and adjustments in overseas offers were relatively small.
