The latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on May 19 shows that power production in China's industrial enterprises above designated size has grown steadily. In April, the power generation of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 711.1 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%, with the growth rate slowing by 0.9 percentage points compared with March; the average daily power generation was 23.70 billion kilowatt-hours. From January to April, the power generation of industrial enterprises above designated size was 2,984.0 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%. Excluding the impact of the number of days, the average daily power generation increased by 0.9% year-on-year.
By type, in April, the decline in thermal power generation by industrial enterprises above designated size remained unchanged, hydropower generation turned from growth to decline, nuclear power generation growth slowed down, and the growth rates of wind power and solar power generation accelerated. Among them, thermal power generation by industrial enterprises above designated size decreased by 2.3% year-on-year, the same as the decline in March; hydropower generation decreased by 6.5%, compared with a growth of 9.5% in March; nuclear power generation increased by 12.4%, with the growth rate slowing by 10.6 percentage points; wind power generation increased by 12.7%, with the growth rate accelerating by 4.5 percentage points; solar power generation increased by 16.7%, with the growth rate accelerating by 7.8 percentage points.
Specifically, in April, the absolute thermal power generation nationwide was 449.1 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%; hydropower generation was 78.6 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year decrease of 6.5%; nuclear power generation was 41.1 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%; wind power generation was 97.5 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%; solar power generation was 44.7 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%.
From January to April, the power generation of industrial enterprises above designated size was 2,984.0 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%.
By type, from January to April, the absolute thermal power generation was 1,983.1 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%; hydropower generation was 301.2 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%; nuclear power generation was 158.5 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%; wind power generation was 381.4 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%; solar power generation was 159.5 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 19.5%.
