The latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics shows that the growth rate of power production in China has accelerated. In March, the power generation of industrial enterprises above designated size was 778 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 1.8% year-on-year. The growth rate accelerated by 3.1 percentage points compared with January-February. The average daily power generation is 25.1 billion kilowatt-hours. From January to March, the power generation of industrial enterprises above designated size was 2,269.9 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3%. After deducting the number of days, the average daily power generation increased by 0.8% year-on-year.
By type, in March, the decline in the growth rate of large-scale industrial thermal power narrowed, while the growth rates of hydropower and nuclear power accelerated, and the growth rates of wind power and solar power slowed down. Among them, industrial thermal power above designated size decreased by 2.3% year-on-year, and the decline narrowed by 3.5 percentage points compared with January-February. Industrial hydropower above designated size increased by 9.5%, with the growth rate accelerating by 5.0 percentage points. Industrial nuclear power above designated size increased by 23.0%, with the growth rate accelerating by 15.3 percentage points. Industrial wind power above designated size increased by 8.2%, with the growth rate slowing down by 2.2 percentage points. Solar power generation in industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 8.9%, with the growth rate slowing down by 18.5 percentage points.
Specifically, in March, the absolute thermal power generation across the country was 509.9 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%. The hydropower volume was 78.1 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 9.5% year-on-year. The nuclear power capacity was 42.8 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 23.0% year-on-year. Wind power generation reached 105.4 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 8.2% year-on-year. Solar power generation reached 41.8 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 8.9% year-on-year.

By type, from January to March, the absolute thermal power generation was 1,532.7 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%. The hydropower generation was 223.3 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 5.9% year-on-year. The nuclear power capacity was 117.4 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 12.8% year-on-year. The wind power generation was 282.6 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 9.3% year-on-year. Solar power generation reached 113.8 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing by 19.5% year-on-year.
