China's electricity generation rose 8% from a year earlier in December

The latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics show that in December 2023, China's power production was stable, and the industrial power generation was 829 billion KWH, an increase of 8.0% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 0.4 percentage points slower than in November, with an average daily power generation of 26.74 billion KWH.
Specifically, in December, the absolute thermal power generation of the country was 610.9 billion KWH, an increase of 9.3%; Hydropower capacity was 77.5 billion KWH, up 2.5% year on year; Nuclear power output was 38.1 billion KWH, down 4.2% year on year; Wind power generation was 81.4 billion KWH, up 7.4% year on year; Solar power generation was 21.1 billion KWH, up 17.2% year on year.
In the whole year of 2023, the country's planned industrial power generation was 8,909.1 billion KWH, with an increase of 5.2%.
By type, in 2023, the absolute power generation of thermal power was 6,231.8 billion KWH, an increase of 6.1%. Hydropower generation was 1,140.9 billion KWH, down 5.6% year on year; Nuclear power capacity was 433.3 billion KWH, up 3.7% year-on-year. Wind power capacity was 809 billion KWH, up 12.3% year on year; Solar power generation was 294 billion KWH, up 17.2% year on year.
