The National Bureau of Statistics released information recently that in August, China's electricity production remained stable, generating 845 billion KWH, an increase of 1.1% year-on-year, the growth rate slowed down by 2.5 percentage points over August, and the average daily power generation was 27.26 billion KWH.
In August, the growth rate of thermal power and wind power changed from increasing to decreasing, the growth rate of nuclear power and solar power generation accelerated, and the growth rate of hydropower changed from decreasing to increasing. Among them, thermal power fell 2.2% year on year, compared with 7.2% growth in August; Hydropower rose 18.5 percent, compared with a 17.5 percent decline in August. Nuclear power grew by 5.5%, 2.6 percentage points faster than in August. Wind power fell 11.5 percent after growing 25 percent in August. Solar power grew 13.9%, 7.5 percentage points faster than in August.
Specifically, in August, the absolute power generation of the country was 589.1 billion KWH, down 2.2% year-on-year; Hydropower capacity was 146.6 billion KWH, up 18.5% year on year; Wind power generation was 44.1 billion KWH, down 11.5% year on year; Nuclear power output was 38.3 billion KWH, up 5.5% year on year; Solar power generation was 26.9 billion KWH, up 13.9% year on year.
From January to August, the country's cumulative power generation was 5,866.3 billion KWH, up 3.6 percent year on year.
From January to August, the absolute power generation of thermal power was 4,139 billion KWH, an increase of 6.1%. Absolute hydropower generation was 718.7 billion KWH, down 15.9% year on year; Absolute wind power generation was 530.8 billion KWH, up 14.4% year on year; Nuclear power capacity was 288.3 billion KWH, up 5.9% year on year; Absolute solar power generation was 189.4 billion KWH, up 9.9% year on year.
