Power generation in China increased 6.1% from a year earlier in April

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in April 2023, China's electricity generation was 658.4 billion KWH, up 6.1 percent year on year and 1.0 percentage point faster than that in March. The average daily power generation was 21.95 billion KWH.
By category, the absolute power generation in April was 449.4 billion KWH, up 11.5 percent year on year; Absolute hydropower generation was 68.4 billion KWH, down 25.9 percent year on year; Absolute wind power generation was 82.9 billion KWH, up 20.9 percent year on year; Nuclear power was 34.5 billion KWH, up 5.7 percent year on year; Absolute solar capacity was 23.1 billion KWH, down 3.3 percent from a year earlier.
Cumulatively, from January to April in 2023, China's absolute power generation was 2,730.9 billion KWH, up 3.4% year on year.
From January to April, the absolute thermal power generation capacity was 1,946.7 billion KWH, up 4.0 percent year on year. The volume of hydropower was 270.9 billion KWH, down 13.7 percent year on year; Wind power generation was 290.9 billion KWH, up 18.8 percent year on year; Nuclear power output was 137.8 billion KWH, up 4.7 percent year on year; Solar power generated 84.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.5 percent year on year.
