Power generation in China increased 5.1%in March from a year earlier

In March 2023, China generated 717.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 5.1 percent year on year and 4.4 percentage points faster than the January-February period, the National Bureau of Statistics said. The average daily power generation was 23.14 billion kilowatt-hours.
In March, absolute coal-fired power generation was 514.6 billion KWH, up 9.1 percent year on year. Absolute hydropower generation was 68.4 billion KWH, down 15.5% year on year; Absolute wind power generation was 73.5 billion KWH, up 0.2 percent year on year; Nuclear power was 36.6 billion KWH, up 4.6 percent year on year; Absolute solar capacity was 24.3 billion KWH, up 13.9 percent year on year.
Cumulatively, from January to March in 2023, the absolute power generation of China was 2,071.2 billion KWH, up 2.4% year on year.
From January to March, the absolute thermal power generation capacity was 1,495.1 billion KWH, up 1.7% year on year; Hydropower output was 203.5 billion KWH, down 8.3% year on year; Wind power generation was 208 billion KWH, up 18.1% year on year; Nuclear power output was 103.3 billion KWH, up 4.4 percent year on year; Solar power generated 61.2 billion kilowatt-hours, up 11.8 percent year on year.
