Electricity generation in China rose 1.5 percent in June from a year earlier

China's absolute power generation reached 709 billion kilowatt-hours in June 2022, up 1.5 percent year on year, while last month saw a drop of 3.3 percent, with an average daily power generation of 23.63 billion kilowatt-hours, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
By category, absolute thermal power generation in June was 455.3 billion kilowatt-hours, down 6 percent year on year. Absolute hydropower generation was 148.1 billion KWH, up 29% year on year. Absolute wind power generation was 52.4 billion KWH, up 16.7% year on year. Nuclear power capacity was 32.7 billion KWH, down 9% year on year; Absolute solar power generation was 20.6 billion KWH, up 9.9 percent year on year.
From January to June 2022, China's absolute power generation was 3,963.1 billion kilowatt hours, up 0.7 percent year on year.
From January to June, the absolute power generated by thermal power was 2,727.7 billion KWH, down 3.9% year on year. Hydropower capacity was 582.8 billion KWH, up 20.3% year on year; Wind power generation was 342.9 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.8 percent year on year; 199 billion kilowatt-hours of nuclear power, up 2% year on year; Solar power generated 110.7 billion kilowatt hours, up 13.5 percent year on year.
