From January to May, China's electricity consumption totaled 3,352.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up 2.5% year on year, according to the National Energy Administration.
By industry, the primary industry consumed 40.8 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, up 9.8% year on year. The power consumption of the secondary industry was 2,246.6 billion KWH, up 1.4% year on year; The tertiary industry consumed 558.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 1.6% year on year; Urban and rural residents consumed 506.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, up 8.1% year on year.
In May, China's electricity consumption was 671.6 billion kilowatt-hours, down 1.3 percent year-on-year, and the average daily power consumption increased 2.2 percent month-on-month.
By industry, the primary industry consumed 8.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 6.3% year on year. The power consumption of the secondary industry was 475.4 billion KWH, down 0.5% year on year. The tertiary industry consumed 105.7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, down 4.4% year on year; Electricity consumption by urban and rural residents was 81.7 billion KWH, down 2.4 percent year on year.
