According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in May 2022, China's absolute power generation was 641 billion kilowatt-hours, down 3.3% year-on-year and up 5.3% month-on-month, with a decline rate of 1.0 percentage points narrower than last month. The average daily power generation was 20.68 billion kilowatt-hours.
By category, absolute thermal power generation in May was 404.5 billion kilowatt-hours, down 10.9% year on year. Absolute hydropower generation was 121.7 billion KWH, up 26.7% year on year. Absolute wind power generation was 59.5 billion kilowatt-hours, down 0.7% year on year; Nuclear power capacity was 34.7 billion KWH, up 1.3% year on year; Absolute solar power capacity was 20.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up 8.3% year on year.
From January to May 2022, China's absolute power generation capacity was 3,248.4 billion KWH, up 0.5 percent year on year.
From January to May, the absolute power generated by thermal power was 2,271.2 billion kilowatt-hours, down 3.5% year on year. Hydropower capacity 434.6 billion KWH, up 17.5% year on year; Wind power generated 287.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up 5.6% year on year; 166.3 billion KWH of nuclear power, up 4.5% year on year; Solar power generated 88.7 billion kilowatt hours, up 12.9 percent year on year.
