As part of China's efforts to achieve carbon neutrality goals, coal mines in east China's Pizhou city have been transformed into the wind and solar farms.

The barren hills because of coal extraction in the past have turned green.

The wind and solar farms are expected to help save 28,900 tonnes of standard coal and cut 72,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.

China aims to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
