Electricity production fell 4.3% in April from a year earlier

China's absolute power generation reached 608.6 billion KWH in April 2022, down 4.3% year-on-year and 9.2% month-on-month, with an average daily power generation of 20.29 billion KWH, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on May 16.
By category, the absolute thermal power generation in April was 400.8 billion KWH, down 11.8% year on year. Absolute hydropower generation was 91.8 billion KWH, up 17.4% year on year. Absolute wind power generation was 62.8 billion kilowatt-hours, up 14.5 percent year on year. Nuclear power capacity was 32.7 billion KWH, up 0.9% year on year; Absolute solar power generation was 20.5 billion KWH, up 24.9 percent year on year.
In the first four months of 2022, China's absolute power generation was 2,602.9 billion kilowatt-hours, up 1.3 percent year on year.
From January to April, the absolute power generated by thermal power was 1,863.5 billion kilowatt-hours, down 1.8% year-on-year. Hydropower capacity was 313 billion kilowatt-hours, up 14.3% year on year; Wind power generated 226.5 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.8% year on year; Nuclear power generated 131.6 billion KWH, up 5.4% year on year; Solar power generated 68.3 billion kilowatt hours, up 14.8 percent year on year.
