The National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption in 2021.
 
In 2021, China consumed 8,312.8 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, up 10.3 percent year on year and 14.7 percent over the same period in 2019, with a two-year average growth of 7.1 percent. By industry, the primary industry consumed 102.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 16.4% year on year. The secondary industry consumed 5,613.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 9.1% year on year; The tertiary industry consumed 1,423.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 17.8% year on year; Urban and rural residents used 1,174.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 7.3% year on year.
