Electricity production rose 0.2 percent year-on-year in November

China's power production growth continued to slow in November 2021, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In November, China's absolute power generation reached 654 billion KWH, up 0.2% year on year, 0.8 percentage points slower than the previous month. The average daily power generation reached 21.8 billion KWH.
 
In November, the country's absolute thermal power generation was 464.5 billion kilowatt-hours, down 2.5 percent year on year, compared with an increase of 5.2 percent last month. Absolute hydropower generation was 90.1 billion KWH, down 1.9% year on year, 10 percentage points less than last month; Nuclear energy generated 33.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 4.1% year on year, 12.8 percentage points less than last month; Absolute wind power generation was 51.6 billion KWH, up 27.7% year on year and 4.2 percentage points higher than last month. Absolute solar power generation was 14.2 billion KWH, up 22.7% year on year, and 22.3 percentage points higher than last month.
 
On a month-on-month basis, power generation in November increased by 14.7 billion KWH, up 2.30%; Thermal power generation increased by 38.1 billion KWH, up 8.94%; Hydropower generation decreased by 29.3 billion KWH, down 24.54%; Nuclear power generation increased by 100 million KWH, up 0.30%; Wind power generation increased by 5.1 billion KWH, up 10.97%; Solar power generation increased by 600 million KWH, up 4.41 percent.
 
From January to November 2021, China's absolute power generation capacity was 7,382.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up 9.2 percent year on year, 0.8 percentage points slower than the previous 10 months, and 11.3 percent higher than the same period in 2019, with a two-year average growth of 5.5 percent.
 
Among them, the country's absolute thermal power generation capacity was 5,222.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up 9.9% year on year, 1.4 percentage points less than that of the previous 10 months. Absolute hydropower generation was 1113.4 billion kilowatt-hours, down 2.2 percent year on year, after a decline of 0.1 percent in the previous 10 months. Nuclear power generation was 370.2 billion KWH, up 11.9% year on year, 0.8 percentage points less than in the previous 10 months. The absolute power generation of wind power was 506.6 billion KWH, up 29.2% year on year, 0.6 percentage points higher than that of the previous 10 months; Absolute solar power generation was 169.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up 13.9 percent year on year and 3.4 percentage points higher than in the previous 10 months.
