On November 12, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption in China in October.
China's economy continued to recover steadily in October, and electricity consumption continued to grow, reaching 660.3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.1% year on year and 14.0% over the same period in 2019, with a two-year average growth of 6.8%. By industry, the primary industry consumed 8.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 14.7% year on year. The secondary industry consumed 451.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 3.2% year on year; The tertiary industry consumed 112.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 14.3% year on year; Urban and rural residents used 88.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 11.1 percent year on year. From January to October, China's electricity consumption totaled 6,825.4 billion kilowatt hours, up 12.2 percent year on year and 15.2 percent over the same period in 2019, with a two-year average growth of 7.3 percent. By industry, the primary industry consumed 84.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, up 18.4 percent year on year. The secondary industry consumed 4,549 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 11.3% year on year; The tertiary industry consumed 1,194.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 20.0% year on year; Urban and rural residents used 997.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 7.4% year on year.
