China imported 32.883 million tons of coal in September 2021, up 14.207 million tons or 76.07% from 18.676 million tons in the same period last year, and an increase of 4.831 million tons, or 17.22 percent, from 28.052 million tons in August, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs.
Coal imports in September amounted to US $3.9132 billion, up 233.66% year-on-year and 25.76% month-on-month. Accordingly, the import price is estimated to be $119.0 per ton, up $56.21 per ton year-on-year and $8.08 per ton month-on-month.
From January to September 2021, China imported 230.396 million tons of coal, down 3.6 percent year-on-year and 6.7 percentage points narrower than the previous 8 months. The accumulative import amount reached 21.049 billion US dollars, up 26.1% year on year.
