In August, China's economy continued to recover steadily, and electricity consumption continued to grow, reaching 760.7 billion kilowatt hours, up 3.6 percent year-on-year and an average growth of 6.0 percent over the past two years. By industry, the primary industry consumed 10.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 13.7% year on year. The power consumption of the secondary industry was 485.1 billion KWH, up 0.6% year on year; The tertiary industry used 140 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 6.2% year on year. Urban and rural residents used 124.9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, up 12.5 percent year on year.
From January to August, China's electricity consumption totaled 5.4704 billion kilowatt hours, up 13.8 percent year on year. By industry, the primary industry consumed 66 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 19.3 percent year on year. The secondary industry consumed 3,652.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 13.1% year on year; The tertiary industry consumed 953.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 21.9% year on year; Urban and rural residents used 798.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 7.5% year on year.
