China imported 28.052 million tons of coal in August, up 35.76% year on year

China imported 28.052 million tons of coal in August 2021, up 7.389 million tons or 35.76 percent from 20.663 million tons in the same period last year, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs on Sept 7. Compared with 30.178 million tons in July, it decreased by 2.126 million tons, or 7.04%.
 
The amount of coal imports in August was 3111.7 million US dollars, up 123.9 percent year-on-year and 6.02 percent month-on-month. Accordingly, the import price is estimated to be $110.93 per ton, up $43.67 per ton year-on-year and $13.67 per ton month-on-month.
 
From January to August 2021, China imported 197.688 million tons of coal, down 10.3% year on year, or 4.7 percentage points less than in the previous July.
