According to preliminary calculations, the proportion of clean energy in total energy consumption in the first half of the year rose 0.4 percentage points from the same period last year, while the proportion of coal consumption fell 0.3 percentage points, Hu Hanzhou, director of the energy department of the National Bureau of Statistics, said in an article published on the China Economic Net.

Preliminary calculation shows that total energy consumption increased by 10.5% year on year, 4.1 percentage points lower than that of the first quarter, and 0.2% lower than that of the same period last year. The two-year average growth was 5.0%. Energy consumption by industries above the designated size, which account for more than 60 percent of China's total energy consumption, increased by 10.1 percent, 4.4 percentage points lower than the first quarter. Of this, energy consumption in the six major energy-consuming industries -- electric power, steel, chemicals, petrochemicals, building materials, and non-ferrous metals -- rose by 9.8%, or 4.2 percentage points lower. The growth of other industries was 11.8 percent, or 5.0 percentage points lower.

Overall, in the first half of this year, China's energy supply and demand continued to steadily recover, energy production increased while maintaining stability, and the level of supply and security continued to improve. The growth rate of energy consumption slowed down, and the share of clean energy increased to some extent.

The energy sector has made every effort to ensure a secure and stable supply of energy, and the production of industrial raw coal, crude oil, natural gas, and electric power above designated size has increased to varying degrees.
