Electricity consumption in China rose 9.8% in June from a year earlier

July 14, the National Energy Administration released the total social electricity consumption data in June.
China's economy recovered steadily in June, with electricity consumption growing to 703.3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 9.8 percent year on year and an average growth of 8.4 percent in the two years. By industry, the primary industry consumed 8.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 16.3% year on year. The secondary industry consumed 483.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 8.5% year on year, contributing about 60% to the growth of the whole society's electricity consumption and being the main driver of the growth of the whole society's electricity consumption. Electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 122.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up 17.5% year on year; Domestic electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 88.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.8% year on year.
From January to June, China's electricity consumption totaled 3.9339 billion kilowatt-hours, up 16.2 percent year on year. By industry, the primary industry consumed 45.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 20.6 percent year on year. Electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 2.661 billion kilowatt-hours, up 16.6 percent year on year; Electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 671 billion kilowatt-hours, up 25.8% year on year; Domestic electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 556.8 billion kilowatt-hours, up 4.5% year on year.
