According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's raw coal output in April 2021 was 322.2 million tons, down 1.8 percent year on year but up 4.0 percent from April 2019, with a two-year average growth of 2.0 percent. The average daily output was 10.74 million tons.
On a month-on-month basis, raw coal production in April fell by 18.54 million tons from March, down 5.44 percent.
In April, the average daily output was 10.74 million tons, down by 250,000 tons from 10.99 million tons in March.
From January to April 2021, China's total raw coal output reached 1,294.4 million tons, up 110.1 percent year on year, with a two-year average growth of 6.1 percent.
Combined with the data previously released by the National Bureau of Statistics, it can be seen that the national raw coal output continued to decrease in April, with the largest year-on-year decline since July 2020 and the third since November 2017 (down 3.7% year-on-year in July 2020 and 2.7% year-on-year in November 2017).
After entering April, although due to the weak market in the off-season, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the policy of increasing production and ensuring supply, the effect was not obvious under the influence of round after round of safety and environmental inspection, coal-related corrosion investigation and other factors, and the market supply and demand still presented a tight balance.
