The National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption in March.
In March, China's electricity consumption was 663.1 billion kilowatt-hours, up 19.4 percent year on year. By industry, the primary industry consumed 6.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 26.5% year on year. Electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 461.5 billion kilowatt hours, up 21.2 percent year on year; Electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 101.8 billion kilowatt-hours, up 42.9% year on year; Domestic electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 93 billion kilowatt-hours, down 5.3% year on year.
From January to March, China's total electricity consumption totaled 1,921.9 billion kilowatt-hours, up 21.2 percent year on year. By industry, the primary industry consumed 21 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, up 26.4 percent year on year. Electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 1,262.5 billion kilowatt-hours, up 24.1 percent year on year; Electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 333.1 billion kilowatt-hours, up 28.2 percent year on year; Domestic electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 305.3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 4.7% year on year.
