China's electric power production in the first two months of 2021 grew faster than a year ago, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
From January to February 2021, China's absolute power generation reached 1,242.8 billion kWh, up 19.5% year on year and 16.8 percentage points higher than that from January to December 2020.
In addition to hydroelectric power, thermal power, nuclear power, wind power and solar power all showed double-digit growth.
To be specific, China's absolute thermal power generation capacity was 939 billion kilowatt-hours, up 18.4% year on year. Absolute hydropower generation capacity was 129.2 billion kilowatt-hours, up 8.5 percent year on year; Nuclear power generation was 58.4 billion kilowatt-hours, up 23.4% year on year; Absolute wind power generation capacity was 91.5 billion kilowatt-hours, up 49% year on year; The absolute solar power generation capacity was 24.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up 25.8 percent year on year.
In addition, from January to February 2021, China generated 21.06 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per day on average, 2.41 billion kilowatt-hours less than in December of the previous year.
