The Three Gorges Hydropower Station generated 111.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2020, setting a new world record for the annual output of a single hydropower station, People's Daily reported.
As the world's largest hydroelectric development enterprise and China's largest clean energy group, China Three Gorges Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Three Gorges Corporation") is expected to complete investment of more than 176 billion Yuan in 2020; total profit of more than 55 billion Yuan; net profit of more than 45.2 billion Yuan; year-on-year growth of about 60%, 26%, and 28% respectively.
The Three Gorges Hydropower Station is the backbone power source of China's "power transmission from west to east" and "power supply between north and south". A total of 34 hydro turbine generating units have been installed, with a total installed capacity of 22.5 million kW and an annual designed generating capacity of 88.2 billion kWh. The first batch of units were put into operation in 2003. In 2014, the annual generating capacity of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station reached 98.8 billion kilowatt-hours, setting a world record for the annual generating capacity of a single hydropower station that year. In 2018, annual power generation reached 101.6 billion kilowatt-hours, exceeding the 100 billion kilowatt-hours mark for the first time.
