China's absolute power generation capacity was up 2.7% year on year in 2020

China's absolute power generation capacity rose 9.1% year on year to 727.7 billion kilowatt-hours in December 2020, 2.3 percentage points higher than the previous month, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.
Among them, the country's absolute thermal power generation capacity was 564.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up 9.2% year on year, or 2.6 percentage points higher than last month. The absolute hydropower generation capacity was 76.4 billion kilowatt-hours, up 11.3% year on year, and the increase was the same as last month. Nuclear power generation capacity was 35.3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.2% year on year, and the figure was down 0.8% last month. The absolute wind power generation capacity was 40.9 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.1% year on year, or 1.2 percentage points higher than last month. The absolute solar power generation capacity was 10.4 billion kilowatt-hours, up 8.9% year on year, 8.1 percentage points higher than the previous month.
From the month-on-month point of view, the national power generation in December increased by 85.8 billion kilowatt hours, up 13.37%; Thermal power generation increased by 94.6 billion kilowatt-hours from the previous month, up 20.12%; Hydropower generation decreased by 15.3 billion kilowatt-hours, down 16.68%; Nuclear power generation increased by 3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 9.29%; Wind power generation increased by 3.1 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.20%; Solar power generation increased by 400 million kilowatt-hours, up 4.00%.
From January to December 2020, China's absolute power generation capacity was 7,417 billion kilowatt-hours, up 2.7% year on year and 0.7 percentage points higher than last month.
Of this, the country's absolute thermal power generation capacity was 5279.9 billion kilowatt-hours, up 1.2% year on year; Absolute hydropower generation capacity was 1,214 billion KWH, up 5.3% year on year; Nuclear power generation capacity was 366.3 billion kilowatt hours, up 5.1% year on year; Absolute wind power generation capacity was 414.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up 10.5% year on year; Absolute solar power generation capacity was 142.1 billion kilowatt-hours, up 8.5 percent year on year.
In December 2020, China's average daily power generation was 23.47 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 2.07 billion kilowatt-hours.
