Recently, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption in August.
In August, electricity consumption was 729.4 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.7 percent year on year. By industry, the power consumption of the primary industry was 9.4 billion KWH, up 12.1% year on year. Electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 480.4 billion KWH, up 9.9% year on year. Electricity consumption of the tertiary industry reached 131.3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.5% year on year. Electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 108.3 billion kilowatt-hours, down 1.2% year on year.
From January to August, the total electricity consumption of the whole society reached 4767.6 billion KWH, up 0.5% year-on-year. By industry, the primary industry's electricity consumption was 55.2 billion KWH, up 9.4% year on year. Electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 3191.4 billion KWH, down 0.5% year-on-year; Electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 781.2 billion KWH, down 1.0% year-on-year; The domestic electricity consumption of urban and rural residents reached 739.8 billion kilowatt hours, up by 6.3% year on year.
