Inner Mongolia coal prices edged up slightly in August

According to Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission, the price of thermal coal at mine mouths edged up slightly in August, and the purchase price of thermal coal edged down slightly in August.
In August, the average settlement price of thermal coal at mine mouths in the region was 234.28 Yuan/mt in August, up 1.44% compared with that of July, and up 10.14% compared with that of August of 2019.
Among them, the average settlement price of lignite at mine mouths in the eastern region was 216.61 Yuan/mt, up 0.39% compared with that of July, and up 19.07% compared with that of August of 2019. The average settlement price of thermal coal at mine mouths in Ordos was 275.00 Yuan/mt, up 6.00% compared with that of July, and up 3.34% compared with that of August of 2019.
The average purchase price of thermal coal in Inner Mongolia was 210.70 Yuan /mt in August, down 0.50% compared with that of July, but up 3.49% compared with that of August of 2019. After conversion to standard coal (7000 Kcal/Kg), the average purchase price was 419.95 Yuan/mt, down 0.56% compared with that of July, but up 3.39% compared with that of August of 2019.
Among them, the average purchase price of thermal coal in the eastern region was 213.45 Yuan/mt, down 1.10% compared with that of July, but up 8.71% compared with that of August of 2019. The average purchase price of thermal coal in the western region was 208.50 Yuan/mt, up 0.01% compared with that of July, but down 0.42% compared with that of August of 2019.
The Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission said the thermal coal market has entered a slack season in September and hydropower will continue to run at full capacity, squeezing thermal power demand. As the power plant continued to destock in August, there will be some demand for replenishment in September. In general, the overall demand of the coal market will not fluctuate significantly, and the price will be mainly stable.
