In June, raw coal production for industrial enterprises above designated size declined slightly, crude oil production increased slightly, natural gas maintained rapid growth, and electricity production accelerated.
Raw coal production declined slightly. In June, raw coal production was 330 million tons, down 1.2% year on year and 1.1 percentage points higher than that of the previous month. Average daily output was 11.14 million tons, up 860,000 tons month-on-month. In the first half of the year, raw coal production was 1.81 billion tons, up 0.6% from a year earlier.
Coal imports are down. In June, imports of coal reached 25.29 million tons, up 3.23 million tons month-on-month and down 6.7% year on year. In the first half of the year, imports of coal reached 174 million tons, up 12.7 percent year on year and down 15.7 percentage points from the first quarter.
Crude oil production rose slightly and processing volumes accelerated. In June, China produced 16.24 million tons of crude oil, up 0.7% year on year but 0.6 percentage points less than that of the previous month. Processed crude oil reached 57.87 million tons, up 9.0 percent and 0.8 percentage points faster than that of the previous month. In the first half of the year, China produced 97.15 million tons of crude oil, up 1.7% year on year and 0.7 percentage points slower than the first quarter. Processed crude oil was 320 million tons, up 0.6% from a year earlier.
Crude oil imports grew rapidly. In June, imported crude oil was 53.18 million tons, up 34.4 percent year on year. In the first half of the year, imported crude oil reached 269 million tons, up 9.9 percent year-on-year and 4.9 percentage points faster than the first quarter.
Natural gas production has maintained rapid growth. In June, China produced 15.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, up 11.3 percent year on year but 1.4 percentage points lower than that of the previous month, with an average daily output of 510 million cubic meters. In the first half of the year, China produced 94 billion cubic meters of natural gas, up 10.3 percent year on year and 1.2 percentage points faster than the first quarter.
The growth of natural gas imports accelerated significantly. In June, imports of natural gas reached 8.33 million tons, up 10.8 percent year on year and 6.6 percentage points faster than the previous month. In the first half of the year, imported natural gas reached 48.36 million tons, up 3.3 percent year on year and 1.5 percentage points faster than the first quarter.
Electricity production continued to accelerate. In June, electricity output reached 630.4 billion KWH, up 6.5 percent year-on-year and 2.2 percentage points faster than the previous month. Average daily output of electricity was 21.01 billion KWH, up 1.87 billion KWH month-on-month. In the first half of the year, electricity output fell 1.4 percent to 3,364.5 billion KWH, and 5.4 percentage points less than in the first quarter.
Separately, in June, the growth rate of thermal power, solar power and nuclear power dropped, while that of hydropower changed from negative to positive, and that of wind power grew rapidly. Thermal power grew by 5.4% year-on-year, and 3.6 percentage points lower than last month. Solar power generation grew by 5.8% and 1.3 percentage points lower than last month. Nuclear power grew by 13.6% and 0.7 percentage points lower than last month. Hydropower rose 6.9 percent, and the figure was down 16.5 percent in the previous month. Wind power grew by 15.8 percent, accelerating by 10.6 percentage points than last month.
