Total electricity consumption rose 6.1 percent in June from a year earlier

On July 13, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption in June.
In June, China's electricity consumption reached 635 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.1 percent year on year. By industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 7.6 billion KWH, up 12.9% year on year. Electricity consumption of the secondary industry reached 441.2 billion KWH, up 4.3% year-on-year. Electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 103.7 billion KWH, up 7.0% year-on-year. Electricity consumption for urban and rural residents reached 82.5 billion kilowatt-hours, up 14.3 percent year on year.
From January to June, the total electricity consumption of the whole society reached 3,354.7 billion KWH, down 1.3 percent year-on-year. By industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 37.3 billion KWH, up 8.2% year-on-year. Electricity consumption of the secondary industry dropped by 2.5% year-on-year to 2,251 billion KWH. Electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 533.3 billion KWH, down 4.0% year-on-year; Domestic electricity consumption for urban and rural residents reached 533.1 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.6% year on year.
