Finland's goods volumes of foreign sea transport in May stood at 8.5 million tonnes, down by five percent from the same month last year, Statistics Finland reported on Tuesday.
The goods volume of sea freight in exports in May was 14 percent less than a year ago, while imports increased by six percent year on year, according to Statistics Finland.
Numbers published by Statistics Finland indicated the lowest monthly sea freight volume this year -- around seven million tonnes -- had been in February, when Finnish forest industries were affected by wide domestic strikes.
