Bulgaria's Industrial Production Index in April fell by 15.7 percent year on year, and by 11.4 percent compared with March, the country's National Statistical Institute said Tuesday.
Preliminary data showed that on an annual basis, April's IPI fell by 18.5 percent in the manufacturing sector and by 10.9 percent in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, while production went up in the mining and quarrying industry by 9.3 percent.
In the manufacturing sector, the more considerable decrease compared to the same month of the previous year was registered in motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers by 74.0 percent.
Meanwhile, a major increase was seen in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 19.3 percent, the NSI said.
In April 2020, the index went down 13.2 percent in the manufacturing sector compared with a month ago, 9.6 percent in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, and 5.8 percent in the mining and quarrying industry, the institute said.
