According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) recently, China's raw coal output in April 2020 was 322.12 million tons, up 6.0% year on year. In April, the average daily output was 10.74 million tons, 140,000 tons less than in March.
From January to April 2020, China's cumulative raw coal output was 1152.44 million tons, up 1.3% year on year, compared with a 0.5 percent decline in the previous 3 months.
In April 2020, five provinces produced more than 10 million tons of raw coal per month, accounting for a total of 259.952 million tons of raw coal, or 80.70 percent of the country's output. The output of Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Xinjiang and Guizhou was 85.954 million tons, 85.276 million tons, 56.006 million tons, 22.469 million tons and 10.247 million tons, respectively.
From the cumulative data, from January to April in 2020, the largest output was in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi. Among them, the cumulative output of raw coal in Shanxi was 309.052 million tons, accounting for 26.82% of the national total output, an increase of 2.2% year-on-year. The cumulative output of raw coal in Inner Mongolia was 306.643 million tons, accounting for 26.61% of the country's total output, down 7.5% year on year. Shaanxi's cumulative output of raw coal was 192.66 million tons, accounting for 16.72% of the country's total output, up 22.8% year on year. The three provinces and regions produced 808.355 million tons of raw coal from January to April, accounting for 70.14 percent of the country's raw coal output.
In the first four months of last year, the total raw coal output of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia was 767.747 million tons, accounting for 69.19 percent of the country's raw coal output. In the first four months of this year, the output increased by 40.608,000 tons, up 5.29%. The percentage increased by 0.95 percentage points, showing little change.
From January to April 2020, the cumulative output of raw coal exceeded 50 million tons in four provinces and regions, namely, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and Xinjiang. The cumulative output reached 89.3591 million tons, accounting for 77.54% of the country's total output.
