China's electricity generation increased by 0.3% in April

China's absolute power generation in April 2020 was 554.3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 0.3 percent year-on-year, after falling 4.6 percent last month, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on 15th May.
 
Of this, China's total coal-fired power generation was 397.9 billion kilowatt-hours, up 1.2 percent year on year, but the data was down 7.5 percent in March. Absolute hydropower generation was 75.7 billion KWH, down 9.2% year on year, and 3.3 percentage points more than last month. Nuclear power generation was 30.8 billion kilowatt-hours, up 10.7 percent year on year, and 3.8 percentage points higher than last month. Absolute wind generating capacity was 36.4 billion kilowatt-hours, up 1.2 percent year on year, and the increase degree narrowed by 16.9 percentage points from the previous month. Solar power generated 13.5 billion kilowatt-hours in absolute terms, up 12.3 percent year on year, and the increase degree narrowed by 3.7 percentage points from the previous month.
 
On a month-on-month basis, electricity generation increased by 1.8 billion KWH, or 0.33%, in April. Thermal power generation increased by 8.5 billion KWH, an increase of 2.18%; Hydropower generation decreased by 600 million KWH, down 0.79%. Nuclear power generation increased by 200 million kilowatt-hours on a month-on-month basis, up 0.65%. On a month-on-month basis, wind power generation decreased by 6.8 billion KWH, down 15.74%. Solar power generation increased by 600 million KWH, or 4.65%.
 
From January to April 2020, China's absolute power generation capacity was 2138.8 billion KWH, down 5% year on year, and the decrease degree narrowed by 1.8 percentage points than that of the previous march.
 
Among them, China's total coal-fired power generation capacity was 1,575.8 billion kilowatt-hours, down 5.9 percent year on year. Absolute hydropower generation was 272 billion KWH, down 9.4% year on year. Nuclear power generation was 108.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up 3.7% year on year. Absolute wind power generation was 138.3 billion KWH, up 4.4% year-on-year. Absolute solar power output was 44.1 billion KWH, up 10.1% year on year.
 
In April 2020, the country generated 18.48 billion KWH of electricity per day, an increase of 660 million KWH from the previous month.
