Chinas electricity output fell by 4.6% from a year earlier in March

China's absolute power generation in March 2020 was 552.5 billion kilowatt-hours, down 4.6% from a year earlier and the growth rate was narrowing of 3.6 percentage points compared with that in January and February, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Average daily electricity generation is 17.82 billion KWH, up 710 million KWH from 17.11 billion KWH in January-February.
Of this, China's absolute thermal power generation was 389.4 billion KWH, down 7.5% year on year. Absolute hydropower generation was 76.3 billion KWH, down by 5.9% year on year. Nuclear power generation was 30.6 billion KWH, up 6.9% year on year. Absolute wind power generation was 43.2 billion KWH, up 18.1% year on year. Absolute solar power generation was 12.9 billion KWH, up 8.6% year on year.
In the January-March period of 2020, China's absolute power generation capacity reached 1582.2 billion KWH, down 6.8% year on year.
Of this, China's absolute thermal power generation was 1174.6 billion KWH, down 8.2% year on year. Absolute hydropower generation was 196.3 billion KWH, down by 9.5% year on year. Nuclear power generation was 77.9 billion KWH, up 1.2% year on year. Absolute wind power generation was 102.2 billion KWH, up 5.7% year on year. Absolute solar power generation was 31 billion KWH, up 10.9% year on year.
