China's maritime economy has quickened work and production resumption with the weather warming up and the novel coronavirus epidemic brought under control, the Ministry of Natural Resources said Tuesday.

In a bid to ensure abundant supplies of aquatic products, authorities in Tianjin, Shandong, Zhejiang and Fujian have rolled out measures to support fishery companies in resuming production.

In the city of Binzhou, east China's Shandong Province, 16 aquaculture firms cut their electricity bills by 9,000 yuan (about 1,286 U.S. dollars) as they were charged favorable power prices.

A local power supply company also worked to generate sufficient electricity to ensure water pumps and automatic aerators operate around the clock.

The northern Chinese city of Tianjin plans to earmark over 15 million yuan to help its fishery sector regain momentum and ensure rich supplies of aquatic products.
