China's electricity consumption in the first two months of this year fell 7.8 percent from a year earlier, according to a state news conference in March.
Electricity consumption in primary and residential sectors increased by 3.9% and 2.4%, respectively, while that in secondary and tertiary sectors decreased by 12.0% and 3.1%, respectively.
By region, electricity consumption is growing in 8 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), with the growth rate exceeding 5% in 2 provinces (autonomous regions) of Inner Mongolia and Yunnan.
From the power generation point of view, in the first two months, the above-scale industrial power generation fell 8.2% year on year.
Thermal, hydro, nuclear and wind power generation declined by 8.9%, 11.9%, 2.2% and 0.2%, respectively, and solar power generation increased by 12.0%.
At the same time, since March, the electricity consumption has significantly recovered. It is learned that the scheduled electricity generation on March 16 reached 17.8 billion KWH, significantly higher than the 16.2 billion KWH at the end of February, up 9.9%.
According to the electricity consumption situation monitored by power grid enterprises, the electricity consumption of non-ferrous metal industry has reached the normal level of last year. The electricity consumption of pharmaceutical, chemical and electronic industries has returned to more than 90% of the normal level, and that of steel, machinery and textile industries has returned to more than 80% of the normal level.
