Energy production situation in January-February of 2020

From January to February, the industrial raw coal and power production above the designated size decreased, while the production of crude oil and natural gas maintained growth.
Raw coal production fell. From January to February, China produced 490 million tons of raw coal, with an average daily output of 8.15 million tons, down 6.3% year on year. Coal imports reached 68.06 million tons, up 33.1% year on year. Port coal comprehensive trading prices have increased, February 28 Qinhuangdao Port 5500, 5000 and 4500 CV coal prices are 556 Yuan/ ton, 502 Yuan/ ton and 452 Yuan/ ton, 7 Yuan/ ton, 8 Yuan/ ton and 8 Yuan/ ton higher than January 3.
Crude oil production maintained growth and processing volume declined. From January to February, China produced 32 million tons of crude oil, with an average daily output of 533,000 tons, up 3.7% year on year. The import of crude oil was 86.09 million tons, up 5.2% year on year. Processed crude oil was 99.19 million tons, 1.653 million tons per day, down 3.8% year on year.
Natural gas production grew rapidly. From January to February, China produced 31.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas, with an average daily output of 520 million cubic meters, up 8.0% year on year. Imports of natural gas reached 17.8 million tons, up 2.8 percent year on year.
Electricity production is down. From January to February, power generation reached 1026.7 billion KWH, and the average daily power generation reached 17.11 billion KWH, down 8.2% year on year. By category, the decline of thermal power and hydropower is relatively large, that of nuclear power and wind power is slightly down, and that of solar power is growing steadily. Among them, thermal power declined by 8.9 percent, hydropower by 11.9 percent, nuclear power by 2.2 percent, wind power by 0.2 percent and solar power by 12.0 percent.
