On February 28, 2020, the National Bureau of Statistics released the Statistical Bulletin of the People's Republic of China on National Economic and Social Development in 2019. China's raw coal output reached 3.85 billion tons in 2019, up 4.0 percent year-on-year, according to the bulletin.
China's industrial capacity utilization rate was 76.6 percent in 2019, 0.1 percentage point higher than the previous year, according to the bulletin. Among them, coal mining and washing industry capacity utilization rate was 70.6%, the same as the previous year.
In 2019, coal imports reached 299.67 million tons, up 6.3% year on year, and imports totaled 160.5 billion Yuan, down 1.1% year on year.
Total energy consumption in 2019 totaled 4.86 billion tons of standard coal, up 3.3% over the previous year. Coal consumption increased by 1.0 percent, accounting for 57.7 percent of total energy consumption, down 1.5 percentage points from the previous year.
A million tons of coal killed 0.083 people, down 10.8%.
