Guizhou power plant selected as national electricity demonstration project

The anthracite-powered Guizhou Weihe Power Plant was recently listed as a national electricity demonstration project by the State Energy Administration, according to the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Guizhou Energy Administration.
 
Commissioned by the State Energy Administration, the project has been evaluated and selected by experts from the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering and the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute based on relevant requirements.
 
All experts agreed that the technology and equipment used by Guizhou Weihe Power Plant can be designed and manufactured independently, which is effective in energy conservation and emission reduction. In addition, the project is consistent with the relevant national policies regarding the thermal power industry, serving as a positive example for promoting the development of coal-fired power technologies.
 
Located in Bijie, a city in southwest China's Guizhou province, Guizhou Weihe Power Plant was developed by Guiyang Energy Group, Dongfang Electric Group, and Southwest Electric Power Design Institute. The total investment on the project is 5.6 billion yuan ($826.6 million).
 
According to a Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission official, the project plays an important role in accelerating the efficient utilization of anthracite, promoting energy transformation and upgrading, as well as green low-carbon development. It is also of great significance for the construction of the Bijie experimental zone and the promotion of high-quality development concepts in Guizhou. Additionally, it will help the electric power industry of Guizhou be involved in the Belt and Road construction, expanding international cooperation.
 
The Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Guizhou Energy Administration will jointly accelerate the construction and operation of the demonstration project to promote green low-carbon development and industrial upgrading.
