According to Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission, the settlement price of thermal coal at mine mouths and the purchase price of thermal coal in Inner Mongolia both increased slightly in January. During the Spring Festival, affected by downstream demander’s replenishment, coal prices may continue to rise slightly in February.
Data showed that the average settlement price of thermal coal at mine mouths in the region was 212.73 yuan/mt in January, up 1.2% on the month.
Among them, the average settlement price of lignite at mine mouths in the eastern region was 182.94 yuan/mt, up 4.66% on the month and up 3.28% year on year. The average settlement price of thermal coal at mine mouths in Ordos was 250.00 yuan/mt, down 0.88% on the month and down 14.29% year on year.
In the same period, the average purchase price of thermal coal in Inner Mongolia was 211.96 yuan /mt, up 0.17% slightly on the month and up 2.79% year on year.
Among them, the average purchase price of thermal coal in the eastern region was 198.86 yuan/mt, up 1.44% on the month and up 22.55% year on year. The average purchase price of thermal coal in the western region was 222.44 yuan/mt, down 0.72% on the month and down 7.84% year on year.
According to the Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission, industry insiders pointed out that the blasting mining mines and remnant mining mines with output below 450 thousand tons in Yulin area of Shaanxi Province have all been suspended for rectification, and the scope of production suspension has been further expanded. The supply of coal has shrunk, which has led to an increase in demand for coal in Inner Mongolia.
At the same time, due to the impact of the Spring Festival holiday, the demand for downstream replenishment is released, and coal prices are expected to continue to rise slightly in February.
