According to China Energy News, the first press conference since the establishment of the Ministry of Emergency Management was held at the State Council Information Office. Sun Huashan, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Emergency Management and Director of the National Administration for Work Safety Emergency Response, pointed out at the conference that in the field of coal mining, they promoted the withdrawal of 832 backward coal mines with a capacity of 150 million tons according to law and regulations in 2018.
The conference revealed that in 2019, China would fully implement safety risk management and control measures, focusing on industries prone to frequent accidents, carry outing special rectification, and investigate and control hidden dangers. China would carry out "physical examination" on 6 kinds of mines such as mines under normal production and construction with coal and gas outburst, mines with impact ground pressure, mines with high gas, mines with complex and extremely complex hydrogeological type, mines with mining depth of more than 1000 meters, and mines with large quantities of single-shift workers down into the mine. Meanwhile, China would organize experts to carry out in-depth guidance on 53 key cities and counties with hazardous chemicals.
