38 coal mines in China will be shut down for safety demonstration

In order to effectively prevent and control major safety risks of coal mines and effectively prevent and contain serious and extremely serious accidents, the National Coal Mine Safety Administration issued a notice on January 8 requesting that China's coal mines with mining depth of more than 1000 meters and with coal and gas outburst and impact ground pressure should be shut down immediately for safety demonstration. Relevant local authorities should propose measures to limit production, stop production, and shut down unqualified mines.
 
According to the notice, local governments should immediately list coal mines that are difficult to be effectively managed under existing technical conditions after safety demonstration into the closure list and organize their implementation. Coal mines proved to be capable of disaster prevention and control and governing disasters such as gas and impact ground pressure in place should reduce their production capacity by 20% on the basis of existing production capacity.
 
The notice also required the provincial Coal Mine Safety Administration to submit the coal mine conditions and disposal situation in accordance with the above conditions and the progress of the “physical examination” submitted monthly to the National Coal Mine Safety Administration in written form before January 14.
 
In addition, the notice was accompanied by two lists of coal mines under normal production and new construction with mining depth of more than 1000 meters and with coal and gas outburst and impact ground pressure, 23 coal mines and 16 coal mines respectively.
