Huaneng Taicang Port charges 1 yuan/ton•day for coal that has been stored for 60 days.
Recently, Huaneng Taicang Port issued a notice deciding to charge 1 yuan/ton•day for customers whose coal storage period exceeds 60 days from January 1, 2019. Huaneng Taicang Port has a large amount of coal stored in the storage yard, and some customers have occupied the site for a long time, resulting in coal demurrage and spontaneous combustion, reducing the utilization rate of the storage yard, and the port turnover efficiency is very low. Overdue storage fees will speed up the transit of coal at ports and strengthen the effective use of wharf resources. In order to collect funds near the end of the year, traders at the ports of the Yangtze River will reduce prices to sell goods. The collection of storage fees in January of next year will significantly raise the cost of traders. In addition, next year's market demand is expected to be poor, traders at Taicang Port will more likely to reduce prices and sell coal before the end of the year.
 
Coal supplies will shrink at the end of the year as many provinces and cities carried out safety "physical examination" of coal mine.
In response to the Office of Safe Production Committee of State Council's call for a “physical examination” of high-risk coal mines, the coal-producing provinces such as Shanxi and Shandong provinces have recently launched safety “physical examinations” of coal mines and safety inspections. Among them, Shandong Province has carried out special safety examinations for 6 types of 63 high-risk coal mines, such as coal mines under normal production and construction and with gas outburst, coal mines with high impact pressure, coal mines with high gas content, coal mines with complex and extremely complex hydrogeological types, coal mines with deep mining depth, and coal mines with large number quantities of people getting into the mine per shift. They carried out safety "physical examination" of high-risk coal mines one by one, centering on the investigation of large systems, controlling big risks, treating big disasters, eliminate big hidden dangers and preventing big accidents. In addition, Shanxi Province conducted safety “consultation” on coal and gas outburst mines, and unqualified mines will be closed. This work began from the beginning of this month until the end of June 2019.
 
The Yangtze River Economic Belt will carry out clean-up and rectification of small hydropower, and it will benefit the thermal power in the short term.
Recently, Ministry of Water Resources, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Ecology, and National Energy Administration jointly issued opinions on the work of cleaning up and rectifying small hydropower in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The opinions require that the illegal hydropower stations involved in the core area or buffer zone of the nature reserve and seriously damage the ecological environment must be withdrawn within a limit time, and the hydropower stations with incomplete approval procedures and affecting the ecological environment must be fully rectified and cleaned before the end of 2020.
