China imported 25.14 million mt of coal in September, down 1.94 million mt or 7.18% from the same month last year, and down 3.54 million mt or 12.35% from August, according to the latest data released by General Administration of Customs. In the first nine months of 2018, China imported 228.96 million mt of coal, up11.8% year on year.
Meanwhile, China exported 177 thousand mt of coal in September, down 513 thousand mt or 74.35% year on year, and down 309 thousand mt or 63.58% month on month. Over January-September, China exported 3.45 million mt of coal, down 47% from the same period in 2017.
