Menghua Railway made a breakthrough once again

On September 28, the longest high-gas tunnel of Menghua Railway –Jiyi Tunnel has opened successfully, which was the final opened tunnel of Meng-Shaan section of Menghua Railway, and marked the construction of Menhua Railway making a breakthrough once again.
The whole length of Jiyi Tunnel is 15.4 kilometers. It is located in Hancheng of East Shaanxi and West Yellow River. The local terrain is mainly filled with beam-like mountain ridges with more than 900 meters high. The proportion of hills is 69% of its total area.
Since the safety risk of high-altitude falling and noxious gas may occur in the tunnel construction process, the constructors deployed different types of ventilation into two stages to dilute the gas density. They also set the closure system of wind power and gas power to decrease the possible risk of high-gas tunnel construction. This technology achievement has already declared national patent.
